The New England Railway was formed in 1998 and has branches at Armidale, Glen Innes and Jennings/Wallangarra.
There is an aspiration to run tourist services on the disused
Armidale to Wallangarra line, initially using short sections and
expanding to the whole section.
The group has restored rail motors 765/635 and these have been tested
and are available for operations. However, the group is unable to
commence operations due to unaffordable insurance premiums.
