Illawarra Light Railway Museum Society Ltd

LOCATION:ALBION PARK, NEW SOUTH WALES

The museum is located on Tongarra Road, Albion Park on the Southern side of the Illawarra regional airport. The museum is a 100 km drive south of Sydney and a 20 minute drive south of Wollongong.

The Illawarra Light Railway Museum Society was established in 1972. It operates a museum and operates trains on a 2ft gauge line within a park at Albion Park.

The group has 4 operational steam locomotives of which 2 were from the Illawarra area. Another locomotive, also from the Illawarra area, is under restoration.

The group also owns 2 standard gauge steam locomotives – one on site and one at Bulli.

The museum includes the restored signal box from Otford. Entry to the museum is free. Inside the museum grounds there is a large car park along with free wood-fired barbeques and toilet facilities.
